The 2022 Arnold Strongman Classic (ASC) finally came to an incredible end tonight as 10 of the strongest men in the world competed for the podium. Martins Licis eventually emerged victorious with a total of 41 points, making this his first ASC victory. Oleksii Novikov may have lost his throne but still was able to pull off second place. 2022 Arnold Strongman Classic Results & Prize Purse
The big men put on quite a show over the past two days and this is how things shook out.
- Martins Licis — 41 points ($80,000)
- Oleskii Novikov — 37.5 points ($80,000-Arnold bumped up the prize from $25,000 due t the hardships Ukraine is facing)
- Luke Stoltman — 30.5 points (tied for third) ($20,000)
- Bobby Thompson — 30.5 points (tied for third) ($20,000)
- Rob Kearney — 28.5 points ($13,000)
- Maxime Boudreault — 27 points ($8,000)
- Trey Mitchell — 21.5 points ($7,000)
- Tom Stoltman — 21.5 points ($7,000)
- Evgeny Markov — 21 points ($5,000)
- JF Caron (left due to injury during log pressing) — 14 points ($3,000)
2022 Arnold Strongman Classic Recap
The second day of the competition saw the giants battle it out in three different hotly contested events. Have a look below to see how the big men fared in each event.
Austrian Oak for Max
Each athlete will have three attempts to establish their max weight with the Austrian Oak press.
Luke Stoltman was able to easily press 470 pounds overhead, giving him the win over Trey Mitchell, who was able to press 460 pounds. After failing 480 pounds, Bobby Thompson was able to press 450, securing third.
There was a 45 minutes delay after JF Caron suffered what appeared to be an injury to his knees during the first event on day two, the Log Press. The 39-year-old entered the day in fourth place, behind Rob Kearney, Oleksii Novikov, and Martins Licis. He was helped off the competition floor and immediately taken to the hospital.

Timber Carry
The second event of the day was the Timber carry. The Timber Carry is an 880-pound timber frame that the athletes had to carry up a 35-foot ramp. Straps were not permitted, and they had thirty seconds to carry it as far as they could. If an athlete isn't able to finish, his distance would be scored.
Maxime was able to score the fastest time with an impressive 8.41 seconds. Martins wasn't far behind with a great time of 10.03 seconds, which allowed Martins to take the overall lead in the competition. Oleksii rounded out the top three with a distance of 30 feet and 10 inches.

Stone to Shoulder
This event aims to lift Odd Haugen's famous "tombstone" from the ground to a stationary position on top of the shoulder for as many reps as possible. You are not allowed to drop the stone until the judge signals for it. Tacky was not permitted, but tacky towels were provided. Competitors had two and a half minutes to complete as many reps as possible.
Martins claimed the final event win with 200 points, absolutely crushing this event and securing the overall win with ease. Oleksii was able to secure himself a second place with 110 points in the event, securing him second on the podium. Bobby was able to pull off a third-place finish with an even 100 points.

2022 ASC WRAP UP
Martins has proven himself as a serious competitor and someone to watch out for in the upcoming 2022 World's Strongest Man contest; however, he has yet to confirm if he will be going. 2022 World Strongest Man is scheduled to take place May 24-29, 2022, in Sacramento, California.
Hopefully, JF's injuries aren't too serious, and he will be able to recover quickly.
