Take QuizFour-time Mr. Olympia winner Jay Cutler is set to launch a new NFT project next month in conjunction with Whitney Reid, the Vice president of BPI Nutrition. Cutler and his partner recently were interviewed by Muscleandfitness.com to talk about all things Meta Pumps, the new Jay Cutler-inspired NFTs.
WHAT ARE NFTS?
NFTs are “non-fungible tokens” that are pieces of data that are stored on a blockchain (digital ledger book) that can be bought, sold, or traded. The most common types of NFTs are related to digital art, photos, video, and audio. In the most basic description, an NFT demonstrates proof of ownership.
For example, if you bought a Picasso from the man himself, you’re guaranteed to have an original. But this doesn’t stop others from purchasing reproductions or prints of the same painting. NFTs are meant to show that you own an original form of data, and they can also be used to get special rewards or access to other things.
The NFT space is relatively new with lots of hype behind it, so there’s tons of money to be lost or made in the space. Always do your own research and be prepared to lose your money if the NFT you buy is from a shady project or if the creator “rug pulls” it and runs away with the money.
Jay Cutler is one of the most liked and followed bodybuilders in history. He is a four-time Mr. Olympia winner in 2006-2010 and holds numerous Arnold Classic titles amongst others.
Cutler is one of the most successful bodybuilders both on and off the stage. He last competed in 2013 and has launched multiple successful businesses, including supplements.
Cutler is still relevant almost ten years after his career finished, and we see him transforming into a figure somewhat like Arnold with longevity in the public sphere.
Whitney Reid is a well-known figure in the fitness industry as he’s been behind BPI Sports supplements as a national sales manager and now serves as Executive Vice president. Reid worked alongside Cutler when Cutler was behind products produced by BPI years ago.
When Muscleandfitness interviewed Cutler, he said, “I have this huge, huge fanbase. How can I give back to who follows me and who might follow me? I just look at creating content for people that may look at me as sort of an inspirational model. Everything about me has been and is about leaving a legacy”. Cutler is now attempting to leave his legacy in web 3.0.
According to Cutler and Reid, there will be 9,600 individual unique characters minted available for purchase. Some character manes include “Max Paulson” and “Bill Heat.” Apparently, multiple characters will be based on Cutler’s career.
Reid said about Meta Pumps, “Our project is all about utility. You’re going to receive something tangible when you purchase one of these NFTs”.
Cutler and Reid plan to offer more than just a digital artwork and spoke about other benefits of ownership, including discounts on Cutler Nutrition products and exclusive online chatting with Cutler himself.
The two are aware of the fact the need to offer something that separates them from the herd in providing real value for potential Meta Pumps owners.
CLOSING THOUGHTS
We’re interested to see what other benefits come with these NFTs and how this Meta Pumps project progresses. According to the Meta Pumps Instagram, they will be minting them next month in April 2022. We hope this won’t be another pump and dump scheme in the NFT space. With Cutler’s name on the line, we doubt that’s the case, but time will tell.
