NPC bodybuilder Sergio Fernandez was killed during a robbery as he was leaving the gym in Mexico City. Fernandez was well-loved in the bodybuilding community, and as a new father, this is truly a tragic ending.
He leaves behind his wife Alessa De Leon and David, his 4-month-old baby. The bodybuilding community mourns the loss of Fernandez, with people like Milos Sarcev posting to his Instagram.
WHO IS SERGIO FERNANDEZ?
Sergio Fernandez was an NPC bodybuilder that had his first show in 2014 and won the NPC Europa Show of Champions in the heavyweight division. For the next four years, Fernandez continued to compete in bodybuilding; in 2018, he won gold at the NPC Gainesville Class then silver at the Florida State Championships. He also won gold in the Men's Masters Over 40 division.
Sergio trained multiple male and female bodybuilders and made great contributions to Muscular Development Latino magazine and website. In addition, he served as an inspiration for many and excelled at public speaking.
