Coming off an incredible victory against Eddie Hall, Hafthor Björnsson has recently revealed that a fight with Martyn Ford is possible.
We believe that Martyn is now one of a rare few that could be a decent match for Thor based on physical stature and power. So even though there is a rematch clause for another fight between Thor and Eddie, Thor may be more interested in fighting Martyn next.
Martyn Ford, in his younger years, had a great future ahead of him in cricket; unfortunately, due to some unforeseen health circumstances, this dream became unattainable.
Instead of just giving up and feeling sorry for himself, Martyn embraced his situation and decided to channel all his energy into fitness, unknowingly building a prosperous future for himself.
Martyn’s new journey in life leads him to become a famous actor, fitness trainer, social media influencer, bodybuilder, internet personality, and boxer. He has been recognized as the “World’s Scariest Man,” which is a fitting title for someone that is six-foot-eight inches tall and maintains a body weight of around 300 pounds. Some of his most notable roles as an actor include Lt. Sue in Fast & The Furious 9 and in Kingsman: The Golden Circle.
Martyn Ford and Eddie Hall are close friends, this definitely plays a part in him wanting his shot at Thor after "The Mountain" put on a clinic against Hall in his unanimous decision victory.
Thor has been quoted stating, “I am not getting any younger, so it would have to make sense, and it would have to be sooner rather than later. I am not going to be thinking about names, but someone asked me before if I would fight Martyn Ford. He is a friend of Eddie Hall, and as you know, I am focused on Eddie right now.”
With this in mind, hopefully, the fight will happen by the end of the year.
Thor and Martyn Ford are very similar because there is only an inch difference between the two men, with Thor being six feet nine inches tall, while Martyn is just one inch shorter. Both men are also incredibly strong, lean, and have large amounts of muscles mass.
Thor has accumulated some extremely valuable experience since adjusting his boxing training just two years ago. With the Eddie fight being his fourth boxing match, it is safe to say that he plans to continue on this path and try getting better.
Martyn Ford isn’t a slouch either because he is also very experienced in combat sports, as he has done MMA, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and boxing for many years now. He also has had multiple training sessions with some of the greatest fighters in the world, which makes him the best option to fight Thor next.
Before this fight can happen, though, Sajad Gharibi AKA "The Iranian Hulk", has been eager to settle his rivalry with Martyn during an event that is going to another fight for the ages. Their fight will take place on Saturday, April 30, 2022, and will be held at the O2 Arena in London, with 20,000 eager fans in attendance.
The fight between the two will take place over four two-minute rounds and has been sanctioned by the Professional Boxing Association. However, it hasn’t been announced yet where the fight will be broadcasted.
Thor predicted the match stating, “I think Martyn Ford is going to win. The other guy doesn’t look in shape at all. I don’t know the other guy, though.”
On many occasions, Hafthor Björnsson has expressed his desire to continue fighting and wanting to fight Martyn. So if Martyn Ford wins his next match, he could be the best option for Thor’s next opponent.
Unfortunately, we will have to wait a bit longer to find out what develops next and if an official fight date is set between the two.
