Take QuizThe highly-anticipated fight between Martyn Ford and Sajad Gharibi "The Iranian Hulk" was scheduled to happen on April 30, 2022. Unfortunately, it was canceled due to reasons that were unknown at the time. Let's dig into why the Ford vs Iranian Hulk fight was supposedly canceled.
Martyn Ford shared the news about the fight call-off on his Instagram. Despite Martyn not releasing any information on why it was canceled, Sajad revealed that it was not his decision to pull out from the boxing match, and to further prove his point that it wasn’t his choice, he exclaimed that he intends to sue for a contract breach.
After a lot of people commented on Martyn’s Instagram post, he gave a short response stating that there were “concerns about mental well-being and health and safety risk involved with this matchup.” This was a statement in response to another response he made that seemed to say that The Iranian Hulk wasn’t up to par with what he was expecting and that his mental health wasn’t great.
Sajad, however, refuses to take the blame for the cancellation and put it down to contractual issues. Stating that he had coronavirus during their Dubai meeting and that “I was present with a lung infection and a fever of 40 degrees; it is really embarrassing that the fight is canceled by a coward. It does not matter to me, I am still in this race. I also told the organization to put a fighter in front of me, someone who has a fighting spirit.”
There are two sides to this story, and we aren’t sure what side to believe. Who is at fault here for the fight being canceled, the only way we may know for sure is if Sajad actually takes Martyn to court.
The event is still going ahead as scheduled with featured matchups between Manchester United’s legend Patrice Evra vs. YouTuber Adam Saleh. Also on the card is former Spurs midfielder Jamie O’Hara takes on fitness star Kris Boyson.
These events, however, don’t really make up for the fact that the highly anticipated pair will not be fighting, and with no rescheduled bout being discussed, it may never happen.
CLOSING THOUGHTS
Unfortunately, it seems as if the potential battle between Martyn Ford and Sajad Gharibi may never come to fruition. There is a chance that they will reschedule the bout; until then, we will have to wait and see how the rest of the situation plays out. This whole situation seems a little suspect with many believing that this whole rivalry was faked from the beginning as a publicity stunt.
Who knows, with any luck, we will get to see Martyn Ford setting up a boxing match with Hafthor Bjornsson. Now that would be a fight to look forward to.
