Take QuizThe 2022 Arnold Sports Festival wrapped up over the weekend, and one notable injury occurred when JF Caron had to leave the 2022 Arnold Strongman Classic in day two's events. JF Caron has confirmed that he tore tendons in both his knees and injured his ankle during the Log Press.
Martins Licis won the event with a fantastic performance; here are the 2022 Arnold Strongman Classic results and recap.
On the first day of 2022 Arnold Strongman Classic JF Caron was in fourth place thanks to his monstrous squat of 966lbs. However, he couldn’t get one rep of the monster dumbbells over his head, as he mentioned he wasn’t 100% healed from his shoulder injury from the 2021 Rogue Invitational.
On day two of the event, Caron suffered a nasty injury on his third attempt at the Log Press. The first two attempts went rather well, with Caron pressing 380lbs then 400lbs, respectively. On the third attempt, he tried for 420lbs when his lower body collapsed and gave in. It was a rough injury to watch. Caron gave a ceremonial thumbs up as he was carted off the arena floor.
The contest stopped for 45 minutes before it continued and was completed.
Caron updated his social media recently, saying, “Recovery starts now! I just want to thank the hundreds of fans and friends who wrote to give me their support. Also the @arnoldsports team and @roguefitness crew who help me in this situation. I was so happy to saw @drjantodd and my buddy @boudreau_sim when i came back from surgery. Thanks 🙏 i will answer everyone soon as possible.”
Caron had gone through surgery and we can only hope that everything heals in a way that will enable him to compete again.
This wasn’t an easy injury to see in real-time, and it’s no easier now. The video below shows the nasty injury JF Caron suffered.
Jean Francois Caron is a Canadian-born strongman that hails from Quebec. Caron is the nine-time Canada’s, Strongest Man, he's also an accomplished powerlifter who once deadlifted 850 pounds while only weighing 280 pounds. He’s competed in 11 World’s Strongest Man competitions, with his best finish in 2020 when he placed third. Last year in 2021, he came in third in the Shaw Classic and fifth at WSM. Earlier this year, Caron won the 2022 Froca Bruta competition held in Brazil.
CLOSING THOUGHTS
We wish JF Caron a speedy recovery and hope to see him out there competing soon. His injury is a big blow to the world of strongmen as he’s a fierce competitor that brings the best out of people, and he was also putting out some great content on YouTube.
