Polish strongman Grzegorz Szymański will replace Mateusz Kieliszkowski for the 2022 World’s Strongest Man event that takes place next month from May 24-29th in sunny Sacramento, California. The lineup for the event is now complete; let’s look at this new competitor and the overall lineup for the sport’s biggest showdown.

Grzegorz Szymański Replaces Mateusz Kieliszkowski
Grzegorz Szymański is a Polish strongman that will take the place of the injured Mateusz Kieliszkowski. Kieliszkowski announced that he wouldn’t be competing at the 2022 World’s Strongest Man event because he hasn’t healed 100% from a leg and hip injury that forced him to skip out on the 2022 Arnold Strongman Classic. This is the third year in a row that Kieliszkowski has withdrawn from WSM. Prior to that, he finished in second place in 2018 and 2019.
Szymanski has competed in the WSM three times before this, so he’s no stranger to the event. In 2016 Szymanski finished in eighth place the same year Brian Shaw won his fourth title. He won the 2016 Žydrūnas Savickas Classic, and then in 2017; he was diagnosed with cancer. This will be Szymanki’s first competition since his diagnosis and treatment, so we’re eager to see how he can perform.
